Interval Walking on CNN

| | Comments (0)

Looks like CNN even is jumping aboard the interval training with saying the key to losing more weight is to increase & decrease the pace of your walks.

I'll tell you a secret about my best gains in lifting weights and running in three easy words:

MIX. IT. UP.

Many people, myself included, get into routines. We go to the gym. Lift barbells, do curls, do abs. Same moves week in and out. First six weeks everything is great, and then we don't get that same burn we got before - we don't see our mucles bulging out or can't run as far on the treadmill.

Every time you hit the gym and plan to hit that treadmill or elliptical or recumbent bike, you can't just run for 30 minutes at 5.0 miles per hour. Your body adapts. You have to mix it up. Run for 10 minutes at 6.5 miles per hour. Walk for 10 minutes at 3.5 miles per hour. Run for 10 minutes at 5.0 miles per hour. Then cooldown.

Everytime i'm about to hit the gym, I look over at the ExRx.net site for some ideas on doing different exercises for my muscle groups.
